Library of Social Science, Publishers develops and markets cutting-edge titles across a range of disciplines including: political psychology, social theory, psychoanalysis, anthropology, and twentieth-century history.


What We Seek

Library of Social Science seeks a motivated, highly-organized individual to join our team. The person hired will:

  1. Work with Dr. Richard Koenigsberg and the Library of Social Science Staff (see directly below) to organize research and other documents.

  2. Assist with the development of book titles: edit manuscripts; communicate with authors.

  3. Manage the shipping department: handle computerized inventory system; individually box books; arrange UPS shipments.

Steve Jobs said, “Real leaders ship.” Library of Social Science combines serious scholarship, strong sales and marketing, and great customer service. The candidate will be someone with research and writing skills, a strong personality, and practical business skills.

This is a part-time position, starting two days per week, with the opportunity to advance to full-time.

We are located in Elmhurst, New York—approximately 20 minutes via subway from mid-Manhattan.

Richard Koenigsberg Richard Koenigsberg, Ph.D

Richard A. Koenigsberg, Ph.D., is well known for his books, scholarly papers and online publications on the psychological sources of war and genocide. Formerly a Professor of Behavioral Science at the New York Institute of Technology, he received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research. Following a sojourn in the corporate world as a market researcher (including a stint at Ogilvy and Mather), Dr. Koenigsberg founded Library of Social Science in 1975. Richard is our Acquisitions Editor for political theory, political psychology and history.

Richard G. Klein is a well-known scholar of Freud and Lacan, possessing an extensive library of books, journals, seminars and manuscripts. He produces and disseminates side-by-side German-English editions of Freud’s texts. Richard is contributing editor for Lacanian Ink and New York correspondent for the European Journal of Psychoanalysis (JEP). He is responsible for our list in psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic theory and psychoanalytic approaches to literature and art.

Orion Anderson has worked at Library of Social Science for eight years and has established a world-wide reputation as Editor of the Ideologies of War, Genocide and Terror website and newsletter. He is our production manager, responsible for typesetting, design and printing—transforming manuscripts into finished books.

Richard Koenigsberg Hugh Galford

Hugh S. Galford is a scholar of Modern Middle Eastern Studies, with degrees from Yale and Oxford Universities. With extensive experience as a bookseller (at the American Education Trust), he is Marketing Manager at the Library of Social Science. Hugh is known for his book reviews published in the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs and for his interviews with ambassadors that appear in Washington International. He is Acquisitions Editor for titles in anthropology, cultural studies and social theory.

Mei Ha Chan, Sales Manager and Publicity Director, is a Library of Social Science veteran, with over twenty years of experience. She is in charge of Conference Book Exhibits, as well as of our marketing programs, making sure that our titles are available in libraries for scholars and students around the world.
