Description

The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, the Ph.D. -
granting institution of CUNY, announces a postdoctoral fellowship for the
academic year 2012-2013 in the area of digital humanities. This position is
in association with the ARC, the CUNY Graduate Center Advanced Research
Collaborative, and the GC Digital Initiatives Project (http://gcdi.commons.gc.cuny.edu).

The Primary responsibilities of the fellow will include: teaching one
graduate-level course per semester; grant writing and research in
connection with new and emerging GCDI projects; coordination of existing
GCDI projects; assisting with the CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative
lecture series and related events; and collaborating on a variety of
digital projects at the Graduate Center.

This is a one year fellowship sponsored by the Provost's Office. Positions
will begin on September 1, 2012 and may be renewable for a second year.

GENERAL DUTIES

As a Post-doctoral Fellow, supports programs in a specialized discipline by
participating in an academic community, conducting research, and/or
teaching.  This is a non-tenure track position of limited duration.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent, and additional
qualifications as noted below.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have successfully defended the dissertation or be on track
to defend by the end of July 2012.

The successful candidate will have:

- Experience in working in interdisciplinary humanities environments
- Familiarity with the most recent work in the digital humanities
- A proven record of grant writing and project management skills
- Experience teaching at the master's or doctoral level is highly desired

Experience with some or all of the following is highly preferred:

- Wordpress, Omeka, Drupal
- data visualization tools and methods
- programming (PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.)
- text-mining tools and methods
- text-encoding and markup
- GIS tools and methods

Salary Range

$55,017 plus benefits
