Developing Computational Methods for Processing Older Texts

This project invites proposals for a postdoc to work on corpus-based approaches to medieval texts, asking questions that belong to (or transcend) disciplines including English, History and Linguistics. In particular, proposals will seek to accomplish one or more of the following:

- new implementations in text-based Humanities disciplines of existing corpus-linguistic methodologies

- improving the understanding and accessibility of corpus-linguistic methodologies among traditional scholars in Humanities disciplines, e. g. by devising new interfaces for deploying such methodologies and communicating what they can (and cannot) show

- the identification of Humanities research questions not adequately answerable via corpus-linguistic methodologies and work to develop appropriate solutions (e. g. via NLP approaches).

Application deadline: 30 January 2021.
