The George Mason University Department of History and Art History invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Digital History of the Ancient Mediterranean (Bronze Age through Late Antiquity). The department is home to the award-winning Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media and has highly ranked History PhD and Art History MA programs and a strong commitment to supporting faculty research. Faculty members have affiliations with programs across the university including African-American Studies, Islamic Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Modern and Classical Languages, and Global Affairs.

*Responsibilities:*

Candidates for this position will be expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda in the field of digital ancient history. Candidates will have a 2/2 teaching load, and will teach undergraduate courses on Greek and Roman history and in digital history, as well other undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of research interest.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the history major’s concentration in digital history and should have a research interest in the digital humanities. This can include, but is not limited to, GIS and mapping, 3D modeling or VR/AR, computational text analysis, network analysis, digital collections, and digital archaeology.

*Required Qualifications:*

   * Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. by August 2019

*Preferred Qualifications:*

   * Previous teaching experience in ancient history or digital history

   * Completed digital projects and/or scholarly publications
