New “OpenMethods: Highlighting Digital Humanities Methods and Tools” metablog website launched: Join as Volunteer Editor and get involved!

On Friday, 22nd of September 2017, the kick-off meeting of the Editorial Team of “OpenMethods:
Highlighting Digital Humanities Methods and Tools
took
place.
DH
experts from all over Europe discussed with the OpenMethods Chief Editor Delphine
Montoliu and the OpenMethods Management Tea
m
the
further direction of this new initiative spearheaded by
Humanities

(a
DARIAH-EU H2020 project) in cooperation with
OPERAS.

The
“OpenMethods” website aims at highlighting curated content in the field of
Digital Humanities Methods and Tools, an area currently under-represented in
the peer-reviewed DH literature, especially, but not exclusively from a
European perspective. With the enormous amount of material available online,
from blog posts, articles, expert reports, etc., OpenMethods reacts to the need
to highlight and promote especially valuable
multilingual and multidisciplinary

Access

content to the community on a dedicated platform in order to showcase analysis
and results, facilitate interdisciplinary and international knowledge exchange,
and accelerate the empowerment of the research community. Read more about the
mission and background of OpenMethods
here.

“OpenMethods”
is intended to be a “metablog”. This means that the members of the
“OpenMethods” Editorial Team will highlight already published interesting
content by promoting it on the “OpenMethods” website. The Editorial Team has
already done a great job over the last few weeks by starting to populate the
OpenMethods website with highly interesting content in various languages, as
you can see on the
new
OpenMethods websit
e
.

To take
“OpenMethods” to the next level, directly to the pulse of the community as a
collaborative and interactive forum, the Editorial Team needs input from the DH
community. Therefore, members of the DH community interested in digital methods
and tools are warmly invited to apply to join OpenMethods as
Volunteer
Editors

to advise the OpenMethods Editorial Team on which content should be highlighted
on “OpenMethods”!

The
“OpenMethods” Editorial Team will select high quality resources from amongst
the Volunteer Editors’ nominations via a voting system, curate, and categorize
the content proposed by the Community Volunteers using the

in order
to make it easier to identify interesting high quality resources on Digital
methods and tools within the “OpenMethods” metablog.
