Reader in Digital Information Environments / Digital Humanities Department of Information Studies Institute of Management, Law and Information Science Aberystwyth University Grade 9: £54,826 - £56,467 per annum We are seeking an outstanding scholar to develop and lead new research and teaching in digital humanities/digital information environments at Aberystwyth University. In particular, she/he will provide a strong point of focus and binding to strengthen academic partnerships in new interdisciplinary research centres being developed by the University as part of its ambitious 2012-2017 Strategic Plan. We aim to build a strong international presence in digital humanities and digital information environment areas and the Readership will have a key role in these exciting new developments. This is a post for an ambitious, innovative scholar motivated by the possibilities of the discipline interacting with others to lead cutting edge research of international significance. The role holder will be expected to contribute to the building of strong partnerships. The Readership will be based in the University’s Department of Information Studies (DIS) within the Institute of Management, Law and Information Science. DIS has built an international reputation over the past 49 years and has a central role in education and research across the field of information science and the information profession. Spanning Libraries, Archives, Records Management and Digital Curation the department strategy is committed to developing its portfolio of teaching and research in these areas and wishes by this appointment to strengthen its contribution within these and related areas. The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching of the Department’s PG portfolio spanning multiple PG courses including our Pathways to Information Leadership courses. In addition to teaching, the post will involve administrative duties, student supervision and support.
